ARGENTINA: Police Clearance Certificates Required for Certain Visas

Effective immediately, holders of 30-day Technical visas or Technical visas valid for 30 days who apply to renew the visa for a sixth time (i.e. beyond six months’ continuous stay in Argentina) must submit police clearance certificates (PCCs) from their country of origin and/or all countries where they have lived during the previous three years.

Each PCC must be legalized for use in Argentina (i.e. legalized by the Argentinian consulate in the country of issuance, or apostilled, as required) and translated into Spanish (if applicable).

Background

The Technical or Professional Visa (24H), also known as the Special Transitory Visa, is intended for foreign professionals providing short-term services to an Argentinian entity.

These visas are generally granted for 30 days and can be applied for at an Argentinian consular post or, for visa waiver nationals, post arrival in Argentina. The 30-day special transitory visa can be renewed in Argentina for incremental periods of 30 days up to a total maximum period of one year.

Alternatively, visa-waiver nationals and Chinese nationals holding a valid US B-2 or Schengen visa can apply for a post-arrival 90-day Temporary Work Authorisation (TWA), although an applicant may only apply for a maximum of two 90-day TWAs in one year. PCCs from the country of origin or previous residence are not required for this TWA application.

Italy: Faster Immigration Procedure for Limited Categories of Work

The procedure for obtaining work permit (Nulla Osta) clearance for non-European Union (EU) citizens in relation to the application for subordinate work under the 2021 and 2022 Decreto Flussi (to be announced soon) has been officially simplified. This measure has been introduced by the government as Italy is facing a shortage of manpower in many production sectors (e.g., manufacturing, agriculture, catering). However, the simplification measure does not apply to all types of work permits. Specifically, this procedure will apply to work permit applications for subordinate work submitted under the Decreto Flussi of 2021 and 2022. It does not apply to intra-company permits, Blue Card permits, and other permits for special categories of workers set forth under article 27 of the Immigration Law (e.g., journalists, nurses, translators, researchers). Details of the simplification procedure: Timing:1) The work permit will be issued within 30 days, instead of 60 days.2) The visa will be issued within 20 days from the day of its request. Requirements to start working in Italy:The work permit issued under the conditions specified above will be considered as authorization to carry out the work activity on the national territory even without prior signing of the contract of stay and request […]

Recruitment Guidelines for Singapore Employment Pass

In order to provide proactive strategies related to the hiring of foreign workers in Singapore in the context of the increasing labor market restrictions, here are recommended steps companies can take in advance of immigration sponsorship to meet government requirements going forward: Overview: The Ministry of Manpower of Singapore (MOM) has recently strengthened its Fair Consideration Framework (FCF) for greater deterrence against workplace discrimination. This has resulted in the MOM raising the administrative penalties across the board for all discrimination cases. These updates are intended to ensure that more jobs are advertised to locals as part of a fair hiring process, and there is no pre-selection of a foreign candidate. Exemption: Employers are not required to advertise on MyCareersFuture if any of the following applies: Your company has fewer than 10 employees. The fixed monthly salary for the vacancy is SGD 20,000 and above. The vacancy is short-term, i.e. not more than 1 month. The vacancy is to be filled by an intra-corporate transferee as defined by the World Trade Organization’s General Agreement on Trade in Services: (1) The employee must have worked for the company outside Singapore for at least 1 year before being posted to the branch, affiliate or subsidiary in Singapore; (2) The employee must be a manager, or executive, […]
